1. Agreement

By using GetNorthPath Passport Photo at https://passportsize.getnorthpath.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site. The tool is provided free of charge, with no account and no contract beyond this page.

2. What the service does

The site provides browser-based tools that crop, resize, recolour the background of and re-encode images according to published photo specifications for passports, visas and identity documents, together with written reference material about those specifications. All image processing happens on your device.

3. No guarantee of acceptance

This is the most important term here. We do not and cannot guarantee that any photo produced with this tool will be accepted by IRCC, the US Department of State, USCIS, a consulate, a passport office or any other authority.

Acceptance depends on factors outside the image file, including the judgement of a human reviewer, whether your appearance has changed since your previous document, the quality of the source photograph you supplied, how it was printed, and requirements that may have changed since we last reviewed them. Where the tool reports a requirement as met, that reflects our measurement against our understanding of the published specification, and is not a warranty of acceptance.

4. Accuracy of specifications

We make a genuine effort to keep every specification current and cite official sources where we can. Despite that, requirements change without notice, official guidance is sometimes ambiguous, and errors are possible. The specifications on this site are provided for information and are not a substitute for the official requirements published by the relevant authority.

Always check the authority's own guidance before submitting. If you find a specification here that looks out of date, please tell us at support@getnorthpath.com.

5. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the images you process, including having the right to use them. Do not use this site to create or alter images for fraudulent purposes, to misrepresent a person's identity, or in any way that breaks the law where you are. Altering a photograph to misrepresent your appearance in an official application is a serious matter in most jurisdictions and is not what this tool is for.

You are also responsible for reviewing the output before you submit it. The tool measures what it can measure; you are the one who can see whether your eyes are open, your expression is neutral and the photo actually looks like you.

6. No professional relationship

Using this site does not create a solicitor-client, consultant-client or other professional relationship with us or with GetNorthPath. Nothing here is legal or immigration advice. If you need advice on your immigration matter, engage a licensed representative, which you can do through GetNorthPath if you wish.

7. Availability

The service is provided as is and as available. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it at any time without notice. Features depend on your browser supporting the necessary capabilities, and on third-party content delivery networks that host the machine learning models; we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation.

8. Intellectual property

The design, written content, reference tables and source code of this site belong to us or our licensors. Your images belong to you; we obtain no rights in them, which is straightforward given that we never receive them. Open source components are used under their own licences.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of this site. That expressly includes application fees, courier costs, travel costs, missed deadlines or delays resulting from a photo being refused.

Because the service is free, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to nil. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Third-party links

We link to government websites, official specifications and GetNorthPath. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their handling of your information.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any consumer rights you have under the law of your own country of residence.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page will change, and continuing to use the site after that constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
